We present to you, #BungeMtaani, a live interactive event designed to be a learning & sharing experience on matters affecting the citizens on Kenya’s informal sectors. We use film to document conversations at these forums that bring together common mwananchi, youth women & subject matter experts from relevant organizations to demystify governance, inclusion, health, politics and other issues the common mwananchi faces to be shared online with the general public to act as learning resource for all stakeholders.

Underdevelopment in Africa is often linked to poor governance, inclusivity gaps and mismanagement of resources in government.

According to the 2019 census, 75% of the 50 million population in Kenya comprises the youth. The youth are passionate and creative but they need more space to express their voice, innovativeness, provide solutions, work, and build an atmosphere that suits all and prepares the future generations to not face the same insecurities, imbalances, and corruption we see today.

Not only does a state’s economic growth depend on how productive and creative the youthful population is, but more than often, the youth influences the type of ‘environment a country lives in from social, political to cultural states. Therefore, for change to be achieved in any society, we should actively engage youth in discussions and forums where they have an opinion on matters of governance, gender, inclusion and leadership. The voices of young people should be heard and their input taken into consideration in programing and policy outputs.

We believe youth participation in governance requires a civic education to instill ethical values that can help the youth to distinguish right from wrong, therefore becoming drivers of social cohesion, economic development and justice in Kenya. Each social class is faced with different challenges based on education level and exposure. Bunge Mtaani will dissect through this issues and through our weekly episodes, the general public will learn from each other on how to conduct themselves during & after elections.

Bunge Mtaani has been one of our programs/tools as a media brand to engage residents of different slums on general community issues for over 8 years.
